Job Description: Referee Coordinator/assignor


Qualifications: None must take an assignor’s course and recertify each year to get access to the referee database
Duties: Recruit and assign referees for all of HYSA soccer games each Saturday. Must make sure qualified referees are in the middle of higher age group/level games. Pay referees every two weeks. Send along list to treasurer who pays the referees. Work with league to make sure the referee pay scales are competitive to attract and retain good young referees.
Hours for position: Spend approximately 2-3 hours per week assigning and communicating with the referees to remind them of games they are covering during the season. Prior to season, initial schedule may take 4-8 hours. Recertification was a four hour course but has moved to on-line. Initial assignor course is an 8 hour course which runs throughout the winter. Job Description: Field Coordinator/Scheduler

 
Qualifications: Must have a basic understanding of Excel
Duties: Recommend field layout to league, trying to rotate fields when possible year to year to allow fields a chance to recover, and make sure fields that are used for multiple age groups are not over scheduled. Write master schedule of all HYSA home games. Work with Referee coordinator when possible to ensure referees who also play have an opportunity to ref games during the season.
Schedule all make up games by giving Halifax coaches three dates which they can pass on to their opponents. Once a date is chosen, work with the referee coordinator to make sure the games are covered by qualified referees. During spring play, all games must be made up. You may need to send a reminder email to coaches who have not made up early season games.
During spring season works with other town coordinators to resolve conflicts that arise when coaches can’t settle on makeup dates or won’t respond to requests for game times.
Hours for position: Prior to the fall and spring seasons, initial schedule can take 8-12 hours to write and distribute to coaches. During the season, figure 1-2 hours per week to answer questions etc. For each rain out figure 4-6 hours to arrange make ups and coordinate with referee coordinator for ref coverage.

Duties: Take minutes during meetings and post. Book facilities for HYSA related activities such as board and coaches meetings.
